Querid@s amig@s, estamos felices de estar otra vez creando, queriendo, jugando, sanando, mejorando, y aprendiendo de mil maneras junto a nuestros amados chicos y nuestras amadas chicas en Chincha. Los talleres estan llenos y como siempre nuestro lugarcito cada vez se hace mas pequeño pero a la vez más grande. Les cuento que aca es verano y carnaval y hace un CALOR increible....estamos en sequía asi que imaginaran como estamos sudando, pero apesar de esto los talleres estan lindos y los corazones más amorosos, valientes, creativos, y generosos que nunca......y claro, todos aqui estamos siempre soñando en crear cosas nuevas. Como cada verano estamos SUPER ocupados ofreciendo varios talleres a los chicos y chicas y diferentes talleres a los papás. Todos estan de vacaciones y eso significa harto trabajo pero tambien hartas oportunidades para crear momentos nuevos y hermosos juntos en nuestra querida comunidad.

Hello Everyone, we are soooooooo happy to be greeting you from our beloved Chincha. Our summer workshops are in full swing and in spite of the extreme heat, drought, and the space limitations we usually face, our house is packed and bursting with very punctual and amazing kids, and a variety of awesome learning opportunities. We are super busy now offering a variety of workshops to the kids and 3 different workshops to our parents as well. The kids are on vacation and the heat is brutal, so we are doing all we can to stay cool and find ways to give our kids opportunities to continue learning an array of things including how to swim, how to surf, and a chance to get to the big open water!

Jamas las palabras podran decir lo que significan estos chicos y chicas, esta comunidad para mi, las palabras no alcanzan para contarles la grandeza de seres pequeños....no se puede decir lo que pasa en nuestro corazon cuando otro corazon vecino, sencillo, humilde, necesitado decide apoyar nuestro trabajo porque cree en el bien que generamos juntos......y asi, en la compañia del cariño de nuestros vecinos y vecinas seguimos soñando apesar de haber llegado nuevamente a un punto muy dificil economicamente hablando, pero a la vez, a un punto hermosamente alto en humanidad, amor, comunidad, y creatividad. Queremos seguir trabajando, sonando, y nadando con nuestros chicos, queremos llevarlos a la mar para que puedan continuar cultivando esa bellisima relación con ella y con todo lo que en ella vive, y mucho mas.

I can't tell you enough about how awesome these kids are doing, and how kindly our community is responding to the needs of our project in spite of their own needs. LCDM has again reached an all time financial low point, but has at the same time reached an extraordinarily high connection, love, community, creativity, and openness point. We hope you, our volunteer friends, our friends of LCDM all over the world, our blog readers who have been following our work will want to help us continue dreaming, working, creating, and building a possible and more loving community.

Esperamos ustedes amigos voluntarios, amigos de la casa de maytén en todas partes, amigos que leen este blog y siguen nuestro trabajo puedan y quieran ayudarnos a continuar esta relacion indeciblemente hermosa con nuestra gente en nuestro barrio. Necesitamos su ayuda.....solo lo suficiente para poder continuar aprendiendo sacando adelante este diminuto pero amado intento.....asi que si pueden, ayudennos haciendo una donacion, o si estan en Chincha, donando una carrera en combi ida y vuelta a totoritas o Cerro Azul. Gracias anticipadas por su ayuda y fé en este trabajo que hacemos juntos y que queremos tanto!

We REALLY want all our kids to swim and surf and would so sincerely appreciate your help getting those kids first to the pool so they can learn to swim, and second, to a surfing beach so they can learn to surf. We want to do two trips, a one-day trip for little ones to a near by beach, and a second 3-day camping trip to Cerro Azul, a surfing beach perfect for beginners. If you can, please make a donation of any amount. Little by little, small donation after small donation can and will help us make these hopes a reality. 400 to 500 US dollars would be enough to take our big and little kids swimming, camping and surfing this summer. If you live in Ica or Lima and have a van, you can also help us by donating a free two-way ride to Cerro Azul, or Totoritas....transportation is the one expense that KILLS our VERY VERY tiny budget ...Thanks in advance for wanting to help us with the trips!

Reunion de padres de familia! Parents' meeting

Estamos tambien agradecidos y contentos por que en las reuniónes con los papás y mamás hemos decidido limpiar el basural que crece en la pampa cerca a nuestra casa y hacer una siembra de un jardin/huerta en ese espacio. Tambien crearemos un mural que nos recuerde cuidar nuestro barrio, a nuestra mamá tierra, y que la vida y la belleza son mejores residentes de ese espacio. Gracias anticipadas a nuestros papás y mamás por ayudarnos a crear una fuente verde llena de belleza donde ahora aun aumenta la basura. Si alguien en Chincha quiere donarnos plantitas, flores, arboles, matitas de diferentes plantas para sembrar, o piedras para crear un jardin, o pinturas para el mural, o bolsas de basura para botar lo que saquemos del basural, escribame por favor a lacasademayten@gmail.com. Tambien necesitamos muralistas!!!!! Gracias!

We are also grateful and happy because in our last two parents' meetings, our parents have agreed to help do a clean up of a near by dump that's only steps away from our house creating all sorts of health issues and risks. Our kids, their parents, and us will be cleaning the dump, planting a garden, and making a mural that will remind us to care for our mother earth, to never throw garbage, and to do all we can to bring life and beauty to our community. We are presenting a formal petition signed by all the parents and other neighbors to the mayor of our district seeking authorization and support for our clean up. We will do all the work, all we need is some help with materials, plants, etc. We will keep you posted as to how this goes. If you'd like to make a donation so we can purchase paints, brushes, plants, rocks, garbage bags, seeds and other materials, please go to the donate button on our blog. Any amount will help us tremendously. Thank you!!

Precisamente ahora estamos trabajando bastante para poder conseguir los materiales de trabajo y fondos que nos hacen falta para cubrir los gastos de luz, agua, transporte, comida, materiales, viajes, y demas hasta marzo. Por ese motivo, estamos organizando 2 picaronadas y mazamorradas el domingo 21 de febrero y el domingo 6 de marzo para recaudar fondos, asi que vecinos en Chincha ayudennos por favor! Queremos que todos nuestros chicos naden, que todos y todas puedan viajar a ver y vivir en carne propia las bellezas naturales que tiene nuestro pais, y que nuestro barrio este más limpio y lindo. Solo con ayuda lograremos realizar estas metas. Sin ayuda y apoyo no podremos lograr mucho, por eso les pedimos a usted leyendo esta entrada, que si conoce nuestro trabajo y lo valora, por favor, ayudenos. Por lo pronto, nosotros celebraremos este 14 de febrero nuestra amistad de casi ya 9 años, y la fortuna de saber que aqui estan nuestros amigos, los que creen en nosotros, los que nos ayudan a crecer, los que quieren brindarnos lo mejor de si, los que crean nuevas posibilidades a nuestro lado en cada taller. Disfruten ustedes el amor y amistad en sus vidas cada dia. Aqui les dejo más fotos de los chicos haciendo un excelente trabajo en cada uno de nuestros talleres. Que maravillosa es la vida que nos permite hacer lo que amamos en tan buena compañia. Agradecemos a la madre de toda la vida por los momentos hermosos y los dificiles que hemos vivido este ultimo mes. Yo especialmente doy gracias por la salud de nuestro amado Andy, por que despues de casi un mes de dolencias y estragos con su salud, por fin esta volviendo a su fuerza, a su energia, a su cuerpo y a su espiritu sano y brillante. These days, we are working hard to get the workshop materials we need and the funds to meet our electric, water, food, phone, transportation, trips, materials for clean up, and other expenses through the end of march. We are organizing two fund raising events in our neighborhood on February 21, and March 6 selling local desserts. Hopefully, we will be able to raise some funds to help us cover our basic utility costs. This summer, we want all our kids to swim, at least a group of the kids to travel to a beautiful natural spot with us, and we want to clean up that dump and start a life-filled garden in its place. With your help, we know we can achieve all these and much more. In the mean time, the kids, Andy and myself will have a valentine's dinner, movie and pijama party to celebrate our almost 9 year friendship and the great fortune we share of having a group of friends at LCDM who value us, who believe in our hearts, minds and spirits, and who help us become better each day, at every workshop, in every moment we live together. Friends everywhere, enjoy and celebrate the love and friendships in your lives every day. Below, are more pictures of awesome workshop moments...enjoy them! I leave this entry today in deep gratitude to our mother life for all the beautiful and difficult moments she gives us. I offer my special thanks for our beloved Andy's health. He has been dealing with a few health problems, and finally, he is beginning to feel well and back to his health again.
