• La Casa De Maytén is an AWESOME, Honest and Imperfect, self-sustaining, volunteer-based, creative-educational community project in Chincha, Peru that brings together local and international volunteers to generate creative, home-grown opportunities to cultivate and attain wholesome well-being and end cycles of violence, poverty, and neglect. LCDM was born on 8/15/2007, after an 8.0 earthquake hit Maytén's childhood community.
•  La Casa de Mayten is NOT a registered not-for-profit organization in any country, and we do not have any immediate plans to be. LCDM is a community-led, self-sustaining project that hopes to create an alternative and more local and organic way of working with and in community that stays away from the often bureaucratic NGO format. We raise our own funds and survive mainly on exchanges and small monetary donations we get at our fundraising events and from friends, family and former volunteers around the world. We eat, sleep and live everyday with the challenge of having to do awesome things with our limited available financial resources, yet, though we need help, we are grateful for the lessons in that challenge. 
• Fair Trade Volunteer Deal: As part of a genuine fair exchange, we offer volunteers our modest house, food, and internet access, and a unique opportunity to get to know and be enriched by the special people we work with in exchange for their tireless work and utmost dedication to the aims of the project while they are with us. Our home is humble, basic, even uncomfortable, especially in the heat of summer months (Dec - March), but genuinely and lovingly shared with volunteers who are willing to learn, build, connect and share a bit of life with invaluable people who make up our beloved community. We work HARD!!!! Please know that!
•  At LCDM, we dare to be all we wish and need to be in order to build through tireless creative work the communities we dream of!
• A typical day at LCDM includes: Preparing all meals together, cleaning all shared areas together, conducting and/or assisting with creative educational workshops at home base from 10am - 12pm; 2pm to 6pm, preparing program of activities and materials for workshops, helping chaperone kids during beach and other cultural exchange trips, preparing and managing online fundraising campaigns, conducting creative educational workshops at both local shelters we work with, shopping trips to the local market, meeting as a group to go over the week's work, issues, questions, concerns, ideas, achievements, beautiful and difficult  moments, etc, making music and relaxing with other tired volunteers, eating freshly made VEGAN food three times a day, making kids laugh, hugging kids tons of times a day, being hugged, feeling valued, loved, listened to, sung to and much more!
•  All of our workshops are offered  at no cost to the people of Chincha.
• We work in a single small space with kids of different ages: a truly diverse and multi-age learning experience, which while challenging for the teacher, offers many opportunities for growth as a group.

• La Casa de Maytén es un MARAVILLOSO, Honesto e Imperfecto, proyecto comunitario creativo-educativo auto gestionado y totalmente voluntario basado en Chincha, Peru que reune personas del Perú y el mundo para generar alternativas sostenibles, creativas, y locales que ayuden a traer bienestar integral a todos y a romper ciclos de violencia, pobreza y negligencia. LCDM nacio en agosto 15, 2007, despues que un terremoto de magnitud 8.0 remeciera la comunidad en la que crecio Maytén.
•   La Casa de Mayten NO ES una organizacion registrada sin fines de lucro en ningun pais, y no tenemos planes inmediatos de convertirnos en una.   LCDM  es un proyecto comunitario auto-gestionado que aspira crear un modo alternativo, local, y más organico de trabajar con y en comunidad. Un modo que evite la burocracia que a menudo se encuentra en el formato ONG. Recaudamos nuestro fondos independientemente y subsistimos a base de intercambios y pequeñas donaciones monetarias que recibimos durante nuestros eventos recauda  fondos, y de amigos, familia, y ex-voluntarios en diferentes paises.  Comemos, dormimos, y vivimos cada dia frente al desafio de hacer cosas fenomenales con los limitados recursos economicos disponibles, y mientras que necesitamos ayuda, estamos agradecidos por este reto que nos obliga a crecer y a desarrollar nuestra creatividad y ingenio.
•  Trueque Justo para Voluntarios: Como parte de un intercambio genuino y justo, ofrecemos a nuestros voluntarios nuestra casa humilde, comida, acceso a internet, y una oportunidad unica de conocer y ser enriquecidos por las maravillosas personas con quienes trabajos, a cambio de su trabajo incansable y dedicación total a las metas del proyecto mientras están con nosotros. Nuestra casa es humilde, basica, hasta incomoda, especialmente durante el calor del verano Chinchano (Dic-Mar), pero la compartimos genuina y amorosamente con voluntarios que estan dispuestos a aprender, construir, conectarse, y compartir un poco de vida con seres invaluables en nuestra querida comunidad Chinchana.
• En LCDM, nos atrevemos a ser todo lo que deseamos y necesitamos ser para asi construir desde nuestro adentro y a partir de trabajo creativo arduo, las comunidades en las que soñamos!
• Un dia tipico en LCDM incluye: Preparar juntos todas las comidas del dia, limpiar las areas compartidas juntos, enseñar y/o ayudar a facilitar talleres creativo-educativos en la casa y albergues, preparar un programa de actividades y materiales para los talleres, cuidar y monitorear a niños durante excursiones a playa o viajes de intercambio cultural, preparar y manejar campañas recaudafondos en linea, ir de compras al mercado local, reunirse en grupo para repasar el trabajo de la semana, dificultades, dudas, ideas, logros, momentos lindos y dificiles; hacer musica y relajarse con otros voluntarios cansados, comer comida Vegana fresca y recien preparada tres veces al dia, hacer reir a hartos niños, hacerlos sentirse valorados, queridos, y escuchados, dar muchos abrazos al dia, recibir abrazos, cantos y mucho mas. 
• Todos nuestros talleres son ofrecidos sin costo alguno a la gente de Chincha
• Trabajamos con niños, niñas, y jovenes de diferentes edades en un solo espacio. A pesar del desafio que esto representa para el profesor, valoramos mucho como grupo las oportunidades y ventajas que una experiencia de aprendizaje diversa y multi-edad nos ofrece.
