Querid@s Amig@s, saludos veraniegos a todos ustedes desde Chincha. Es increible lo rápido que pasó el tiempo, ya estamos a punto de terminar marzo, y los chicos aqui iniciaron ya sus clases el 14 de marzo pasado. Les cuento que cada dia en LCDM, vivimos momentos irrepetiblemente maravillosos que siempre quiero compartir al instante con todos ustedes por este blog y FB, pero la verdad, el tiempo, la energia, y la internet limitada no nos dan para hacer ese compartir virtual posible, especialmente esta temporada que hemos estado mayormente solo Andy y yo trabajando los talleres, viajes, y proyectos especiales. Pero, ahora que los chicos estan en el colegio tengo un poquito más de tiempo.

Dear Friends, summer greetings to all of you from Chincha. It's incredible how fast time has gone by, here we are at the end of March, and the kids here already went back to school on the 14th. Let me tell you that each day at LCDM, we live unrepeatably marvelous moments that I always want to share in that instant with all of you through this blog and via FB, but the truth is that lack of time, energy, and reliable internet make such virtual sharing impossible, especially since this season only Andy and I have been doing all the workshops, trips, and special projects. But now that the kids are back in school, I have a bit more time.

Pero QUE veranazo ha sido este para nosotros, hemos logrado con muchisimo trabajo y esfuerzo ofrecer una diversidad de talleres a los chicos y chicas, hemos realizado los 2 viajes que nos propusimos hacer para pequeños y grandes, hemos limpiado un basural ilegal y plantado un jardin comunal, y Andy y yo pudimos participar de un taller de pedagogia musical para niños..WUUUUUJUUUUU.... estamos muertos de cansancio eso si, pero felices hasta más no poder......estos dias seguimos dando talleres a los chicos los viernes, sabados y domingos, y estamos trabajando para plantar mas matitas y sacar adelante el jardín comunal con la ayuda de todos los chicos y chicas.

And WHAT a summer it has been for us! With tons of and effort, we have been able to offer a diverse array of workshops to the kids, we pulled off the two trips we had hoped to do for little kids and for older kids, we cleaned up an illegal garbage dump and planted a community garden, and Andy and I were both able to participate in a workshop on musical pedagogy for children . . . Woooo Hooo. . . . we are dead tired, that's for sure, but happier we could not be . . . these days we continue giving workshops on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and we are working to plant more plants and improve the community garden with the help of all the kids.

Les confieso amig@s que este Enero yo llegue a Chincha bastante cansada despues de un 2015 exigente, hermoso, arduo, y que no nos dio muchas ventanas para descansar, pero si muchas oportunidades para aprender, crecer, conocer gente extraordinaria, y sumar a nuestra bolsita de experiencias, amigos, y herramientas. Cuando llegamos a Chincha Andy yo acababamos de hacer una mudanza complicada en Cusco y de terminar un curso intenso de permacultura en el valle sagrado...asi que imaginaran lo bajas que estaban nuestras baterias.....pero asi, mobilizados por el amor de nuestros amados chicos y chicas iniciamos otra fantastica temporada de talleres de verano....increiblemente, y a pesar del cansancio, nuestros cuerpos han trabajado más que nunca durante estos talleres intensos, y hemos logrado hacer realidad un par de proyectos que no pudimos sacar adelante el año pasado...proyectos como ofrecer talleres para los papás y mamás, y limpiar el basural que ya estaba representando una amenaza séria para la salud de todo el barrio. Estamos MUY orgullosos de nuestros chicos y chicas, y de todos los vecinos y vecinas que nos ayudaron a limpiar el basural, que nos donaron plantitas para el jardín, y que decidieron por el bien de todos, no volver a hechar basura en la pampa. Muchas gracias a todos y todas por ayudarnos a traer salud, vida y belleza a los niños y niñas de nuestro barrio.

I must confess to you, friends, that in January I arrived in Chincha pretty tired after a 2015 that was demanding, beautiful, arduous, and which while it did not provide us many chances to rest, it did give us many opportunities to learn, grow, meet extraordinary people, and add to our wealth of experiences, friends, and tools. Before heading back to Chincha, we had just finished a complicated move in Cusco and an intensive permaculture design course in the sacred valley. . . so, you can imagine how low our batteries must have been. . . but even so, mobilized by love for our beloved boys and girls, we began another fantastic summer workshop season . . . incredibly, and in spite of fatigue, our bodies worked harder than ever during these intensive workshops. And we have been able to realize a couple of projects that we never got to the previous year. . . projects including offering evening workshops for parents, and cleaning up the garbage in the vacant lot, which had really become a threat to the health of the whole neighborhood. We are VERY proud of our kids, and of the neighbors who helped us with the cleanup, who donated plants for the garden, and who decided that for the good of everyone they would not go back to throwing their garbage there. Many thanks to everyone for helping us bring more health, live, and beauty to the kids of our neighborhood.

Tambien estamos agradecidos a nuestros amigos voluntarios Peggy y Hector que llegaron a ayudarnos en diferentes momentos durante estos ultimos dos meses y medio. Queremos especialmente mencionar el amor y generosidad de nuestra querida Peggy que regreso tres veces a trabajar bastante a nuestro lado. Tambien quiero agradecer a nuestros cuerpos por no colapsar estos meses y por permitirnos hacer lo necesario......les cuento que cada semana despues de dar talleres intensos de miercoles a domingo, estuvimos viajando a Lima los lunes y martes (nuestros dias libres) para ver incontables medicos y hacernos numerosos examenes de todo tipo, especialmente Andy, quien sufrio un ataque de tifoidea fuerte que le detonó otras complicaciones gracias a la vida temporareas. Con todo y eso, de alguna manera, con ayuda de la vida, de todos los chicos, especialmente de un par de nuestros chicos antiguos, y algunos papás y mamás hemos logrado un verano inigualable. Gracias Andy, por trabajar mas alla de tus fuerzas por este proyecto, por este barrio, por nuestros niños que te quieren, por este país que si puede ser eso que tu y yo soñamos. I love you my love, y te agradezco con el alma todas tus incontables e invaluables contribuciones a mi bien, al bien de nuestro proyecto, y al bien de todos los chicos y chicas de aca, y de nuestro querido barrio.

We are also thankful for our volunteer friends Peggy and Hector who arrived to help us in different moments during these last two and a half months. We especially want to mention the love and generosity of our dear Peggy, who came back three times to work quite hard by our side. Dear Peggy, our love, friendship, and gratitude will be traveling with you always. Gracias! I also want to thank our own bodies for no collapsing in these months and for allowing us to do all that was necessary. . . let me share with you that every week after giving intensive workshops from wednesday to sunday, we traveled to Lima on mondays and tuesdays, our only free days, to see countless doctors and do all kinds of medical exams, who suffered a bout of typhoid fever which led to other, thankfully temporary, complications. With all this, somehow, with the help of the kids, especially a couple of our older ones, of a few of the parents, and of life itself, we managed to pull of an incomparable summer. Thanks to Andy, for working beyond your own strength for this project, for this neighborhood, for these kids who love you, and for this country that can become everything we both dream it can be. I love you my love, and I thank you with my soul all the the countless and invaluable contributions to my own wellness, to wellness of our project, and to the wellness of all the boys and girls of our dear neighborhood.

Amigos, los momentos vividos junto a nuestra comunidad han sido demasiados este verano para poder contralos todos aqui, pero poco a poco ire subiendo mas fotos y compartiendo vivencias, así que no dejen de visitar este blog. Pronto subire las fotos de nuestros viajes a Cerro Azul y Lurin Chincha, de nuestro Jardincito, y de muchas otras cosas más....Como siempre les dejo una invitación a que nos ayuden a continuar haciendo una donación a traves de este blog, y a sacar adelante este pequeño proyecto imposible que sigue a casi 9 años de vida, auto sosteniendose y sobreviviendo con uñas y dientes ante infinitas dificultades, limitaciones, y faltas de apoyo. Creanlo o no pagar la luz, agua, comida, telefono, internet, viajes, materiales, y todo lo demás es una hazaña titanica cada mes para nosotros y necesitamos toda la ayuda que ustedes nos puedan brindar. Friends, the moments we have lived together with our community have been too many this summer to tell them all right now, but little by little I will be adding more photos and sharing more stories, so don't stop visiting this blog.
