Dear friends, last week was also full of work and intense moments. We had to again juggle workshops at my home, a local primary school with 280 students, and Paul Harris shelter. Thank life our bodies came through for us and we are glad to report wonderful results. At school # 22228, we worked with all grades from pre-k to 6th grade, parents and teachers and while ALOT of work needs to be done still, it was wonderful to begin thinking together about possible strategic and intentional ways to reduce violence within their educational community.

At Paul Harris I am proud to share that we officially inagurated their Choir called "Un suenho para el futuro"...or "a dream for the future" we also held a theater night to officially introduce their theater group and lastly, we were able to present a collective exhibit of their photograpic works....all achieved this past week with PH girls gave each of us working with them a sense of invaluable satisfaction and validation...they are virtuous, talented, capable and brave enough to defy the odds and be extraordinary...we are so proud of our PH girls...

We also have continued our weekend workshops with my local Mina De Oro kids...i have been working with them since aug. 2007 and they would not let me get away with not offering them workshops as well...my kids are healthy, growing quickly and thank life still excited about our friendship, workshops and the many possibilities and opportunities we can create together...here are some pictures of our hectic week...please enjoy and if you are able to, before the year ends, help us by making a donation: lacasademayten@gmail.com ...we are wrapping this year up and is when we need help the most....thanks for following our work and for your generosity...until next time friends! Queridos amigos, esta semana que paso fue tambien maratonica. Tuvimos nuevamente que correr entre un colegio primario con 280 estudiantes, un albergue y mi casa..pero obviamente todo el ajetreo valio la pena ya que logramos cosas interesantes y vivimos experiencias esperanzadoras que nos llenaron de orgullo y optimismo para el futuro.
El trabajo en el colegio fue arduo ya que llegamos a entrar a todas las aulas desde kinder a sexto grado y tambien logramos trabajar con padres de familia y profesores...aun hay mucho trabajo por hacer en el colegio 22228 pero nos enorgullece haber iniciado la conversacion sobre un plan estrategico antiviolencia dentro de su comunidad educativa....
por otro lado, estuvimos ocupadisimos especialmente Ming con las chicas en Paul Harris, toda la semana se la pasaron creando sus mini obras y ensayandolas para su presentacion final...tambien trabajaron el coro conmigo y gracias a esfuerzos conjuntos y la generosidad de el director y amigos nuestros que hiciern donaciones pudimos comprar y grabar sus polos para dar a su coro un toque de uniformidad y formalidad...quedaron muy guapas las chicas ya veran!ah y por ultimo, tambien con ayuda del Director de PH pudimos hacer una exhibicion colectiva de sus trabajos fotograficos...esta pieza en especial dejo a todas y todos sorprendidos y muy orgullosos del talento en su albergue...
Para terminar, nosotros hemos durante toda la campanha antiviolencia continuado ofreciendo talleres los fines de semana a nuestros ninos de mi zona ya que con ellos llevo trabajando casi 2 anhos y medio y no me perdonan el que los deje sin talleres totalmente...asi que gracias a la vida pudimos sacar energias los muchachos y yo para pasar momentos con nuestros amados mineros tambien...aqui les dejamos fotos...disfrutenlas y si pueden ayudarnos haciendo una donacion escribanme: lacasademayten@gmail.com es fin de anho y ahora necesitamos mucho de su ayuda....gracias!
