Dear friends, on August 15th, we celebrated the third year anniversary of the 2007 earthquake, and La Casa De Mayten's founding. Yup, it has been 3 years since I first came to Chincha thinking it would only be two weeks of doing what I could. Two weeks turned into 3 years and among all the important things we have accomplished as a project, our greatest achievement to date continues to be the profound, forever lasting, and sincere friendship I, and all members of LCDM have with the members of the communities we work with/for.
And so, we celebrate the many wonderful things that were left by the earthquake like our friendship, and reflect on the difficult lessons also left by that furious shaking from mother earth in 2007.
Queridos amigos, este pasado domingo 15 de agosto en chincha, celebramos el 3er aniversario del terremoto y la fundacion del Proyecto Social Independiente La Casa De Mayten. Han pasado ya 3 anhos desde que iniciamos esta aventura creativo-educativa y a tres anhos, y despues de muchos importantes y maravillosos logros, nuestro mayor logro ha sido y sera siempre la profunda, amorosa, inquebrable y sincera amistad con los miembros de nuestra comunidad, particularmente los ninos y jovenes. Este pasado domingo como cada anho celebramos las cosas maravillosas que nos dejo el terremoto, como nuestra gran amistad, y reflexionamos sobre las lecciones dificiles que tambien quiso darnos mama natura cuando remecio Chincha en el 2007.

As usual kids created cool stuff, kids and volunteers prepared and enjoyed a meal together, and of course there was lots of dancing to go around. Como siempre los chicos crearon cosas interesantes, voluntarios y ninos prepararon y disfrutaron una comida juntos hecha a lenha bien Chinchana (sopa seca), y por supuesto bailaron y disfrutaron el dia entre amigos....este 2010 yo no pude estar ahi pero mi espiritu se llena totalmente al ver que mis queridos amigos voluntarios y mi amado Andy estan asegurandose que la vida, la luz, la creatividad, el amor y la posibilidad se generen cada dia que estan ellos en Chincha y son parte de mi diminuto pero amado proyecto.
